Current Research The objective of my research is to integrate advanced computational methods with synthetic organic chemistry towards the design and development of novel agents to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections, anti-cancer agents and insulin resistance disorders, such as diabetes, obesity and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Interesting Facts Dr. Venkata obtaned his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from India and then moved to US to obtain his MS in Chemistry with specilaization in Heterocyclic Chemistry. He then obtained his Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry by pursuing his interests in drug design and development of anti-inflammatory agents by synthesizing novel lipid mediators. After the completion of his doctoral studies, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry for two years as a senior research scientist and then moved to academia to pursue his interests in teaching and research.
