Education

Dr. Micek earned his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Iowa and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.  

Specialty

Dr. Micek is a tenured professor of Pharmacy Practice in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP). He also serves as the director of the Center for Health Outcomes Research and Education at UHSP and is a critical care clinical pharmacist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he is a practitioner on the interdisciplinary medical ICU team.    

Current Research

Dr. Micek’s research interests have focused on the antimicrobial management of critically ill patients utilizing electronic health records. His scholarly work has been funded by grants/awards from various foundations and the pharmaceutical industry. His research has resulted in over 80 original research publications and 50 plus review articles which have been cited by over 11,000 papers (h-index 54, i10-index 124). Students, residents, and fellows in training have collaborated with Dr. Micek on more than 70 publications over the past 15 years.

Dr. Micek serves as a council member on the Midwest Comparative Effectiveness Public Advisory Council (Midwest CEPAC)/Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER).
